My Heavy Weight Champ!

January 26, 2008

He Did IT!!!! Richard defeated the "Giant" and gained the Heavyweight No Limit Champion belt Saturday evening, January 26, 2008! Notice his eye...ouch, but you should have seen the other guy!
Richard definitely had a tough and BIG opponent, but he had the talent and strength to earn the title. Richard won by TKO in the first round at 2 minutes and 40 seconds.
Congratulations Champ!

Photo above is Rich, Gary and Marcus. Gary trains Rich and Marcus. Marcus also took the Middleweight belt home to California!

I'm so sorry that the lighting is bad and that the picture isn't upright. Notice Richard's heavy hands and the heat he brings...stud!

Texas...Big State, Big Opportunity

Januar7 25, 2008
Most of you know that Richard has converted from amateur boxing to professional mixed martial arts (MMA). Because Richard has been performing extremely well lately, he was given the opportunity to fight a title match in Dallas, TX this past weekend.

I have been extremely nervous the past few weeks because I have been made aware that his opponent is a GIANT - his opponent is a seasoned MMA fighter named Zane Fraizer. Fraizer has a record of 22 wins and 10 losses. He stands at 6'6" and weighs-in at 261lbs. Rich stands at 6'0" and weighs-in at 220lbs. Now you can understand why I was more nervous than ever before. Just take a look at this photo of Rich and Zane at weigh-in's on Friday evening.

Here are a few pre-bout photos of Rich and his crew.

Dallas, Texas

January 26, 2008

My Dad and I flew
out to Texas this past weekend (January 25th) to support Richard's upcoming title fight in Dallas and to visit my family - my cousins Karen and Rick, their children: Andrew (a billiant boy), Abbie (the most beautiful blue eyes!), Sammy (a little firecracker) and Levi (a living doll), and Aunt Faye and Uncle Richard.
It was amazing to see my family. I realized just how much I missed my cousin Karen the moment I saw her at the airport.
We had a fantastic visit. Thank you Rick and Karen for your kindness and love! And I'm so glad you guys were there for an incredible moment in Richard's life!

Becky's Big Day...Getting Closer

January 22, 2008

Wow! A beautiful bride!!! Becky has her dress, location, invitations, and groom...she's ready for a wedding - well, almost!

Kathy, Jenny and I (the bride's wedding party) are so excited for Becky. We have been busy planning the bridal shower, picking out our dresses (we're very close), and we'll be helping Beck put together the invitations this week.

Becky - I am so honored to be your maid of honor! I love you.

2008 Sportmen's Expo

January 19, 2008

Gannon loves outdoor sports and activities as much as his Daddy and Papa...and needless to say, the boys were in heaven at the Sportmen's Expo (January 19th).

Gannon and his Daddy love to fish, duck hunt and camp. Rich has already hinted to wanting a hunting dog, but I remind him that we have Savion - although he's not a hunting dog, he's all the dog that we need! And now that Gannon is showing a lot of interest in these outdoor sports, I'm already hearing that "we'll probably need to get a quad soon and another duck blind".
Oh boy - what Daddy will do for his son!!!
