Houston, TX

April 26, 2008

Richard was in Texas this weekend for a fight...his opponent was UFC Veteran Edwin DeWess. Rich didn't win this bout, but I'm proud of him no matter what. I could breath easier knowing that he was in one piece without any broken bones or stitches.

Run Drugs Out of Town

April 26, 2008

Gannon and I walked in the 5K Run Drugs Out of Town. We had a great time walking with our friends Tara, Jessie and Julie. It was a great way to begin our day!

Happy Hollow Park & Zoo

April 21, 2008

Richard took Gannon to the Happy Hollow Park & Zoo in San Jose today. Rich said that Gannon had a wonderful time petting the goats and seeing the ruffed lemur. I wish I had experienced this fun day with my boys, but I had to work.

Great America

April 20, 2008

Today we visited Paramount's Great America in San Jose. Rich and Gannon joined me this weekend in SJ since I am here for a week-long training. The park was wonderful because there was no waiting in lines AT ALL, but that could be because it was SO COLD and WINDY! Yuck. Gannon didn't mind the weather a bit - he loved the park because he saw his friends Dora, Blues Clues and Spongebob (which I still haven't figured out how he even knows of Spongebob because I've never let him watch that show on TV...DAD?!). There was one bit of disappointment, Gannon was too small to ride on many of the rides that he really wanted to experience. We will definitely come back in a few more years so Gannon can ride more of the trilling and adventurous rides!Gannon is getting his groove on at the Dora the Explorer Sing-Along Adventure Show!

Winchester Mystery House

April 19, 2008We visited the bizarre 160-room Victorian mansion built by the rifle heiress, Sarah Winchester today. The Winchester Mystery House, located in San Jose, CA, is a collection of peculiar craftsmanship and architectural oddities. We took the mansion tour and saw the staircase leading to nowhere and doors that open onto blank walls. I found it fascinating how the dark and rather small rooms in the home were built specifically around a 4'10" woman who had her own obstacles to deal with; both physically and mentally. Sarah Winchester lost both her daughter and her husband, and attributed their deaths to that of the famous "gun that won the west". In an effort to appease or trick the evil spirits in her world - she used her $20 million inheritance to build continuously until her death. Weird. I definitely felt saddened while visiting her world for a moment, but could definitely comprehend the sorrow she must have felt by losing her loved ones...I could almost feel her sense of uncertainty and fear while in the house.

Blues Clues Party!

April 18, 2008

Due to a heartbreaking occurrence, Gannon's 3rd birthday party at NAPS was postponed a week and held today!!! Blues Clues was the theme and Gannon had a blast - nothing beats jumping and jumping and jumping in the Blues Clues jump house, wearing his favorite color of BLUE, eating blue cupcakes BEFORE LUNCH and singing with all of his friends. A gigantic hug goes to the special women of NAPS for making not only Gannon's birthday extraordinary, but for making every moment Gannon spends with all of you wonderful!!!

Addendum to this day: While I was at Gannon's school singing, dancing and celebrating...I was handed the schools cordless phone by one of the teachers stating, "Someone is asking for you. They said its an emergency". It was my Uncle Gene letting me know that my Dad was on the way to the hospital due to chest pains. I kissed Gannon, let the school know what is up (they all know my Dad there) and headed for the hospital. I was the first to arrive...I met my Dad at the Admissions portion of the ER and he looked horrible - completely pale and exhausted. He had popped 4 nitros and was suffering from angina. Long story short - after extensive tests and one day later, tests revealed no blockage. Thank God! Doctor's are still trying to attribute this episode to problems associated with his respiratory system...more to learn on that, but for now thank you for the prayers. My Dad is now home resting and getting stronger!

Pirate Party!!!

April 12, 2008

Ahoy there matey...Welcome to Gannon's Pirate Party tid-bits!!!

In celebration of Gannon's 3rd birthday - a pirate party was held in our home.

All friends at the party walked a plank, hooked for a treasure, dug for gold and even used their treasure maps (and heads, of course) to find the treasure chest full of riches and golds.

Richard and I hope that everyone that attended had a good time - Gannon certainly had the time of his life! He was so excited to have all of his friends gathered in his home. When everyone left he asked, "Where did all of my friends go?"

The best present Gannon received was the presence of his friends!!! Thank you for making his 3rd birthday a wonderful celebration! Enjoy some photos from the event.

Our home is decked-out in a Yo-Ho-Ho theme and ready for Gannon's guests.

After finding the treasure chest full of swords and eye-patches...Gannon was a happy kid!

Celebrating Gannon's 3rd Birthday

April 11, 2008In celebration of Gannon's 3rd Birthday, we began the afternoon at build-a-bear where Gannon decided on a wonderful little elephant to make, clean, love and dress. He named his elephant "Three" (go figure) and dressed him in a Jessie (Toy Story 2 character) cowgirl outfit. I laughed so hard because Gannon insisted that "Three" was a boy elephant - so my Dad and Rich kept saying, "G - since "Three" is a boy elephant...don't you want to dress him in the boy cowboy outfit like Woody?" Without hesitation Gannon said, "NO!" Needless to say, "Three" went home dressed as Jessie.

After a quick carousel ride in the mall, we traveled to one of Gannon's favorite places in Roseville...John's Incredible Pizza. Gannon thinks this place is named after "The Incredibles" movie (another favorite). Gannon had a wonderful day surrounded by his biggest fans - Grandma, Papa, Mommy and Daddy.

We love you Birthday Boy!!!
Keep your Heart of Gold.

Isn't the shirt G has on (pictured above) cute? My Mom bought this for him when we went to the mall that afternoon...a fire truck that shouts - Birthday Boy! We had to change him right then and there!!!

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!!!
