Apple Hill

September 27, 2008
Today we made our annual trip to lovely Apple Hill - this is our favorite way to welcome the new and beautiful Fall season. We visited many great orchards and had a great time. We rode a train, picked delicious apples off the tree to bring home, ate yummy apples pies, purchased our favorite apple donuts for breakfast tomorrow, measured Gannon's height (how tall this fall?), got Gannon's face painted (he chose Spiderman - cool kid!) and fished. Gannon caught a 3-lb trout that we'll eat for dinner tomorrow evening. Check out the video of him reeling in his fish...all was well until the floppy fish came out of the water, then Gannon bailed and let Daddy do the dirty work!

John Carter

September 26, 2008

Gannon adores John Carter...he truly thinks of him as a celebrity. Mr. Carter visits Gannon's school about two times per month, so he gets to see and listen to him often. But this evening, the City of Yuba City hosted a concert featuring the one and only - John Carter! We took Gannon to this concert and he was in awe, and most importantly...rocked out!!!

Igor

September 21, 2008

Halloween certainly came early this year. We took Gannon to Movies 8 to see the new film, Igor. The movie was alright - fun for this time of year. Gannon always loves going to the movies just for the popcorn, but I tell you what...Movies 8 is absolutely so gross. We usually travel to Natomas for a show just because of the disgust I have for our theater. Hopefully the new one will be maintained so we don't have to travel 40 minutes for a movie!

Lunch with Girlfriends

September 19, 2008
The above photo is of three of my oldest and dearest girlfriends. We used to ride our bikes together...now we still make time to get together for lunch!

School Project

September 15, 2008
Gannon had homework. Miss Jen gave Gannon a blank little guy...his objective was to create "himself" anyway he wished. So, we made a trip to Michael's this weekend to look at supplies and get inspired to create a little G. Gannon had so much fun choosing materials, colors and putting his creation together.

Today (although he doesn't have school on Mondays) the project was due, so G and Grandpa dropped off his homework right on time!

Great job Gannon - your little guy looks just like you.

Just Like Daddy

September 14, 2008
When Daddy works out in the shop, so does Gannon. He puts on his hard hat, grabs his hammer and works until the task is complete.

Our Growing Pumpkin Patch

September 14, 2008
Below are some photos of our growing pumpkin patch. We decided to plant some seeds for fun...and wow, we've got some beauties growing. We can't wait to share our fruit in a few more weeks!!!

We're learning the art of gardening day by day, and certainly by trial and error! One error is that we planted WAY too many tomatoes and squash this year. The third photo is the proof of our overgrown, crazy garden.

Cultural Celebration

September 13, 2008
Today was the Yuba City Cultural Celebration at the GAP. Sutter County Health Education worked the event because the event adopted a smoke-free and tobacco-free policy.

My parents, Rich and G joined me for a little fun at the event. It was certainly a fun and festive celebration full of rich differences, foods and entertainment.

Pirate Day

September 9, 2008
Today was Pirate Day at school, so Gannon was able to sport his new pirate ship shirt and breakout his Jack Sparrow hat/wig that he wore at his 3rd birthday party. As soon a G was ready for school, his "pirate" personality blossomed!

We're Having A Baby Girl!!!

September 6, 2008

Today we learned that our second child is a girl. We are delighted! We can't wait to bathe our daughter in pink, pink and more pink.
Gannon knew that he was having a baby sister way before we did. From the first day that we told him that he was having a sibling, he told us that he was having a "girl". A few days later, his teacher told us that he told all of his friends at school that he is having a baby girl and her name is Livvy...so, although we have no intentions on naming her Livvy - she already has a nickname that will probably remain with her for a lifetime.
What was so special is that right before the technician conducted the gender determination test, Gannon was asked whether he was having a girl or boy and he responded with "a girl". What a smart boy!

Grandparents Day Celebration

September 5, 2008
In honor of Grandparents Day (September 7th), NAPS invited all Grandma's and Grandpa's to their school for the 1st Grandparents Day Ice Cream Social!!! Yummy! Gannon is so blessed to have such loving and devoted Grandparents...he loves you so much. Thanks for attending Moma and Papa!!!Since Grandma and Grandpa were at his school - Gannon loves to show off his favorite buddies, Chase and Mason!

And Happy Grandparents Day to Geeg & Grumpy too!!! G is loving you from California!

And a special "Love You" goes out to Great-Grandma Bull too!!!

South Lake Tahoe

September 4, 2008
Rich, G and I spent a few days in the heart of gorgeous South Lake Tahoe. We stayed at the Embassy Suites (I've never stayed at this one before) and boy was it a treat! We had a great suite with two separate living areas...and best of all was their complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast (think made-to-order omelets, fresh waffles, etc. - yum!). This was certainly a family friendly place to stay.

One of Gannon's favorite experiences in Tahoe was boarding the MS Dixie II for a two-hour cruise through the lake to Emerald Bay. From the Dixie we were able to see the famous Vikingsholm Castle, not to mention some breathtaking views! The other adventure Gannon really enjoyed was riding the Heavenly tram or gondola into the alpine mountain. The gondola took us up 2.4 miles to enjoy shore-to-shore views of Lake Tahoe. Once we arrived to the top of the mountain, Rich took Gannon on a little rock climbing adventure.

The weather was perfect in Tahoe. If you're looking for a quick get away...this is a great place. I have to admit that this is the first time that Rich and I (together) had spent time in Tahoe without the snow! Summer is just as beautiful in this lovely town as is winter.

View from the Dixie

Look G - there is the tram that we're going on right now!
Gannon is so excited to ride the tram!

Gorgeous view from half way up the mountain. Climbing, climbing...I did it!!!

Fishing!!!

September 1, 2008
Look Who Went Fishing!!!

Mommy, Daddy and Grandpa took Gannon on his first fishing trip on the boat. We took him to Englebright Lake and it was gorgeous - while there were high powered winds in Yuba City...there was perfect weather on the lake (lucky us!). It took me a while to let Gannon go out on the boat because I've been a little cautious. I wanted to be certain that he was mature enough to sit still while the boat was moving and that he understood when not to look over the edge, and I also wanted to make sure he was comfortable around large bodies of water. Needless to say, Gannon did great! He was a natural boater - just like his Daddy.

Gannon fished with his very own fishing pole and caught a little perch. He was beside himself with pride and excitement. We were so proud of him. When his little bobber went under, we all yelled, "Get him Gannon!" and he reacted with a great and patient catch. I knew that after that "show" his Daddy was beaming inside with such happiness thinking of all the great moments those two have in store in the coming years...think camping, boating, hiking, rock climbing, etc. Richard loves the outdoors and all parts associated with it and Gannon does too. What a pair. My Dad was so proud of little G too!

Gannon had so much fun driving the boat with Papa, swimming with Daddy, fishing with Mommy and barbecuing hot dogs for lunch. This was his kind of day!!!

Daddy caught a yummy little rainbow trout.

THE CATCH OF THE DAY!!!

Finger Painting Fun!

August 31, 2008
Gannon is at that age where all he wants to do is either swim, play with his boats or get busy with some sort of project. Today's project...finger painting! He created some beautiful art!

California State Fair

August 30, 2008
Gannon experienced the fun and HEAT of the California State Fair today. As usual, where there are rides and excitement, Gannon had a great time. Notice the blue sea lion stuffed animal...this was Gannon's first WIN! He won the animal with a fishing game and was extremely proud of himself, as were his parents and grandparents!
